English: Folklor and Daily Life in Muks

At the end of the summer of 1911, I. A. Orbeli travelled to the province of Van on behalf of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. His primary purpose was to conduct research into Armenian culture, art, and language, as well as to gather information about manuscript books preserved in monasteries. After arriving in Van, he also decided to visit the region of Muks. His journey there, however, left a profound impression on him. In Muks, he encountered both Armenian and Kurdish culture and art and discovered the remarkable cultural richness of the region. During his stay, he also had the opportunity to meet the renowned Muhtila Beg, who at the time served as the administrator of Muks.

في أواخر صيف عام 1911، توجّه أوربيلي إلى ولاية وان نيابةً عن أكاديمية العلوم في سانت بطرسبورغ، وكان هدفه الأساسي إجراء أبحاث حول الثقافة والفن واللغة الأرمنية، إلى جانب جمع معلومات عن الكتب والمخطوطات المحفوظة في الأديرة.

وبعد وصوله إلى وان، قرر زيارة منطقة موكس أيضاً. وقد تركت رحلته إلى موكس أثراً عميقاً فيه، إذ تعرّف هناك على ثقافة وفنون كلٍّ من الأرمن والكرد، واكتشف ما تتمتع به المنطقة من ثراء ثقافي لافت. كما أتيحت له خلال إقامته فرصة التعرّف إلى موهتيلا بك المعروف، الذي كان يتولى آنذاك إدارة منطقة موكس.
